Questions: What do red rings around the moon symbolise and why?

I am a spiritual person and have mixed feelings about a red ring or red rings around the moon, especially when it is full. The last time I saw red rings around the moon was the night my mother died. basically to cut a long story short, she had been sick for a very long time and ended up in a coma and we were told to come and say goodbye. A non spiritual person actually commented on the round moon (not quite full) and the very obvious red rings around it that night and less than 8 hrs later, she was gone. I am healed past that, but was wondering if others had views as to what it means and why you believe what you do.. What does this mean? I saw it again the other night and would value some input.. Thanks
