I have had a few dreams with my friend's brother, who died many years ago. I am no longer friends with the aforementioned - we were best firends when we were like 11-12 years old and I am 38 now, it's been a long time - and I had nothing to do with her brother. I know he hated me.
I don't understand why after so many years I am suddenly dreaming about her dead brother. I can only wonder if he is trying to send me a message for some reason.
A few times after I woke up I felt like he was speaking to me and it was just very strange.

It would be hard to tell if they're trying to communicate with you, or if there's a part of you that wants to get in touch with them. Have you been thinking about them at all in the past while?

It might all depend on whatever has been going through your head. You seem to not have forgiven yourself over stuff that happened more than two decades ago. Again, why do you say her brother hated you? You might be self-condemning yourself when everything is fine. Just let go of those things that seem to be tying you down and approach life boldly.
If the feeling persists, see a counsellor.
