What is the meaning of my dream about water/drowning?

- Dream Interpretation

What is the meaning of my dream about water/drowning?

I have been having these weird dreams over the past 3 years about water. They started when I stopped living with my dad when I was 16. Each dream is different, but each involves me, my dad, and my little sister almost drowning in a large quantity of murky water that arises out of no where. Sometimes I fight with my dad in the dream, other times we get along. Sometimes I am strangely negligent towards my sister, sometimes I take good care of her. The dreams are so intense and lifelike (but in a mellow, despairing kind of way) and I feel like they're haunting me. I think if I can figure out what they mean, it will help them stop. Thoughts?

Thank author of this post/commentDreams are a very interesting and mysterious occurrence that many beings incarnate upon the earth plane endure every night. In our current society, the majority of us tend to hold back urges and desires due to the consequences and repercussions that follow these actions, these repressed urges are then played out in our dreams. For others dreams may help analyze the interactions and lessons learned in the previous day, or they may foretell what is going to occur in the following day through symbolism. These are the meanings of dreams described by the “experts” and “scientist” of our present day. Yet, there is a much deeper meaning and level of understanding when it comes to the dream state, as will be explained in this article.

In knowledge from a true initiate, dreams are the veil between the conscious and subconscious mind. The dream state when utilized properly communicates knowledge and information to and from the higher realms, or your higher self, for discernment and analysis. The definition of veil is a covering or concealing of something, so to veil the mind from specific knowledge and wisdom holds significant importance in the experience of the physical third dimension. If there were not a veil placed upon the mind, there would be no experience. The theme of polarity was initiated upon the veiling of the mind, as polarity allows the free will factor to be played out and experienced in our reality. Without free will, how would a entity incarnate upon the earth plane be able to experience the full gamut of emotions available to all. There would be only one extreme to experience, for if evil did not exist how would you know the meaning and truth in good. Every living entity would have a like mind, there may not even be a need for verbal communication as all communication would be done telepathically.

Drowning Dream Meaning

Psychological Meaning: Dreams of drowning or struggling in treacherous waters may represent your fear of being swallowed by forces hidden in the depths of your unconscious. You may be proceeding too quickly with your opening of the unconscious. It may be helpful to talk your problems and fears through with a friend. They may be able to throw you a lifeline and help you 'keep your head above water'. The dream also shows how you are being overwhelmed by your emotions. You may fear sinking financially or be drowning in your difficulties. Do you feel that, in waking life, you are being 'sucked into' something you would rather not be a part of? Pause for a while and make sure you have your 'feet firmly on solid ground' before you make any major decision.

Raphael has really explained what pretty happens to most people. We really hold back and this manifests in what goes on in our minds as we sleep. The fact of the matter is that there is really no such thing as an interpretation to every dream. It would be useless to seek for an interpretation when it is likely it does not exist at all.

I am not discouraging you from following your heart. It would be nagging for a dream to keep recurring. It is a disturbing state. Hope you have a tight grip on your emotions.

I think there is no such thing as dream interpretation. You dream because it is part of our sleeping pattern experience...

Dreams are often a response to our daily thoughts, activities and sensations. They are often, then, a reflection of what has consumed our minds in the preceding day or two. Dreams are apparently a necessary part of our being. Experiments have been done in which adult subjects were given drugs that progressively eliminated their rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. It is during REM that dreams occur. The depriving of the ability to dream resulted in marked personality changes in such subjects. They became increasingly abrasive and anxious and found it difficult to concentrate. It was also shown that the younger a person is, the more important dreams are to their well being.

Since you guys can help out with the interpretation of anyone's dream, I would like to share mine. Here it goes:

My dream usually picks up with me walking in the dark and after some walks I reach a deep well. I felt that someone was behind me but can't seem to find a way to turn my back. All I can do is move my pupils at the edge of my eyes until, boom! I am falling in the bottomless well as the mysterious shadow pushes me to the well.

I know that dreams could be just some random thought or a day's junk memory but when it seems to repeat itself over a set of period and may seem to convey a meaning, aren't you confused and curious yourself onto if this is really some REM or senseless thing? That is where dream interpretations comes in. If you are a Christian and believe in God, then why don't you believe in dreams and their interpretations as well?

I agree with that Keith Ledesma, i think dreams are jsut the product of all your thoughts for the whole day, they got all mixed up on your thought that is why you got those strange looking dreams, but actually it was all just in the mind..

I think that dreams have no meaning at all, and if your dreams didn't stop bugging you and it repeats itself overtime then i think...you just kept thinking of the thought so much..

I think that the information provided is more than enough to take a guess at the meaning of the dream. You left home before you were emotionally ready, and are feeling overwhelmed by life. Quite likely you left because of a dispute, and are concerned for your sister, or feel as if you've abandoned her in some way. You're drowning emotionally in a sea of responsibilities that you aren't sure how to handle.

Have to agree with Nicky here, those thoughts just pre occupies our mind out that even at sleep they bug us so much.

Try to relax and get rid of those thoughts and you will see that it will eventually disappear. There is no such thing as dream interpretation, it is just our thought, mixed up and can be seen in our sub conscious mind, that is when we are asleep.

Maybe a preoccupying situation that is to befall is what this person may have been dreaming about.

Hi Bryan, can you elaborate more about that red book you are talking about. That would be nice if you do so.

I also think the same way regarding dreams. I don't think there are such thing as dream interpretation. There are just dreams, the result of all the thoughts mixed up in your mind. It is just that they appear strange when we are sleep coz we unconsciously play with those thoughts when we are sleeping.

I for one, significantly believe in the possibility of learning more about life and existence, through dreaming. When we die, we are in a state of sleep. This is why as we are sleeping now, and not yet in a 'death' sleep, it would be good to learn of what we experience.

Jamie

I think that when people die, they just don't remember anything, just like when we sleep. The only difference would be, people who are dead doesn't have anymore dreams, because their brains are dead. hahaha

And regarding you being drowned on your dreams, i think it is nothing serious. You just have to clear your mind out to give way to positive vibes and to prevent negative vibes coming in.

Tarra

Call me traditional or superstitious but I think there are more to dreams than just random or unconscious thoughts. I am not setting aside that there are some pointless dreams but I believe there are some dreams which has a significant meaning in one's life and this is what I want to find out. I know it is better to ask some expert about this but can you provide some websites besides the one given above where dream symbols are interpreted and explained.

#16

Alicia

Maybe you are right Tarra, though your dreams maybe a representation of something that have to happen and had already happen, I think people should know that dreams are dreams, it is far from being real. If you want to give your dreams some meaning, you might end up confused on what is real and what is not. Try to just let go of those bad thoughts and take in those good stuffs in your mind.

#17

Lourdes

Maybe you are right tere Alicia but why do people have those strange dreams at night? I believe that our dreams have meanings and whatever the meanings are, I am sure we are too far from understanding them. Even some experts fails to interpret them. What is important is that people should know the difference between dreams and the real world. Live your life and fear nothing but the Lord.

Murky water in my knowledge of dream interpretation is very bad, usually a secret or a few secrets and something being covered up. Death in a dream never means death in real life.
