Hello All!

I had a great dream last night, and would like someone to please offer any interpretation :)

Here's the dream:

I remember that my wife and I were at a great party, and some of my former employers were there. We were in a very nice house, of which I had never been before. The sun and day were very nice and everyone was very pleasant and we were having a great time. I vaguely recall my brother and some of his friends were there and maybe some other extended family. The house was mainly white and the overall tone of the dream was bright and the overall mood at the gathering was very light and jovial. Also, the house was probably from the early to mid 20th century, Midwestern style with a very big porch.

As the party was happily progressing, I spotted an INCREDIBLY VIVID red viper, resting and coiled up next to the kitchen sink. It posed no immediate danger to anyone and was sheltering under the overhang of the cabinets below the sink. It didn't have any aggressive intentions at all, but I new that it wasn't a good idea to have all of the people around this snake. Furthermore, I had absolutely no fear of the snake because I understand snakes and have a great respect and affinity for them. I knew if I riled up all of the people in the party that it would upset the snake and possibly cause some problems. I very calmly called my wife (who is extremely terrified by snakes) over to me and told her to lay down next to me on the wicker, cushioned couch on which I sat. After she did that, I told her to calmly close her eyes and I covered her ears. After this, I loudly told all of the people to go out of the front door because there was a viper next to the kitchen sink, which was located next to the back door. The people spilled out of the front door, slightly panicked. Once the people were out of the door, I gently walked my wife out of the front door. At this point, the snake started to come in my direction. It's movements were not very aggressive, and I'm not sure if it had intention to attack me or not. I was the last one out of the door. As I went to close the door (which was a sliding door), it turned out that the door was too small and there was about a 1 foot gap from which the snake could very easily get out. At this point I remember cursing, but, for some reason, a yellow mutt with stronger pit bull features just happened to charge into the opening at the precise moment that the snake could have exited. In effect, this prevented the snake from exiting. I don't think the the dog was going to consciously protect me, and I have no clue where it came from and I remember feeling that it was unconnected to anyone at the party. Also, I don't believe that the dog was bitten by snake, so this may bely the snakes intentions, but I can't say for sure. At this point, my alarm clock went off and I woke up. Overall, I had no feelings of danger or fear from the snake, even when it appeared that the snake may be coming after me. The important thing about this dream was how lucid and vivid the color of the snake was. I have never had such a vivid color in my dream, and I have never ever seen such a vibrant red on Earth either.

I would also like to describe a few things about my personal life:

1. I may be about to accept a new job in a place that that has been my goal to work. I just completed the interview and they are now checking my references. The new job would be a better place to live and the actual place of work would be better, but I have grown to really like my coworkers, students and neighbors where I live now.

2. I feel that my weight has been starting to become a slight problem, and it had been increasing lately after being fairly stable for the last 4 years.

3. I feel that my drinking is starting to become a slight problem.

Any insight into the dream would be greatly appreciated as I have never really been so struck by a dream before in my life.

Are you sure you didn't watch any snake flick last the night before you dreamed of this?(joking)

Some say that snakes in dream may represent an enemy or something not favorable for you like calamities. A live coiled red snake means that your enemy is just around you socializing and watching your every move.

You should be careful with the people around you specially with the one that you just met that you think is nice to you.

hey everyone

last night i had a dream that i was in a swimming pool only the whole top layer of the pool was grass and dirt and once i dove into the pool the dirt and grass dissapeared. There was this tree pot sort of thing in the middle of the pool and i was swimming with a girl i haven't seen in about a year...then all of a sudden this big coiled up red snake appeared on the dirt surrounding the tree. and the girl i was swimming with grabbed it and threw it into the pool where i was swimming and i'm really afraid of snakes so i said nooooo it's a snake and she managed to grab it and then the snakes owner appeared and like said "sorry my snake got away"...very weird right?

well it's not the first time i dream of snakes another one i was in my living room couch and the whole living room was surrounded by big and i mean big anaconda like fat disgusting snakes all over the floor and hanging from the roof and no one saw them but me...

i've been doing some research and i've read that mostly snakes mean danger or someone talking/gossiping about you...or someone new in your life that you should be aware of...

well recently this old friend from school called me and invited me to her house for some drinks and to catch up...now i'm a bit nervous of going because i haven't seen her in like 5 years and all of a sudden this call and this dream...

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dreamed that a snake red and white crawled in through my

bedroom window with no screen on it and got onto my 4 yr.

daughter's bed, however she was not on it.

I knew instantly i had to get it out of the bedroom and with a

linen sheet I through over it, it looked straight at me before I

could cover it and launched its head towards my hand and bit me

between my thumb and index finger, I flinched, but I was scared,

I then picked it up and through it out of my bedroom window and

saw it falling to the grass outsided. When my husband came up

to our bedroom, I explained that I did something really stupid,

that a snake had crawled into our bedroom and I tried to capture

it and got bitten. He said we have to go to emergency I said

okay and as I started to go downstairs, I felt that my feet

were giving in and my husband ran to put a chair behind me.

Next we were in the car and there were several bungalow clinics

and suddenly I saw my oldest sister inter the car, she had a

hospital gown I leaned onto her should got a hold of her hand, I

squeezed it and she squeezed by hand back, I then her that I had

done something really dumb and had gotten bitten by a snake, she

said don't worry you'll be alright. Then I was awakened by my

husband wishing me a happy birthday.

Hi! "Linguist from Nirvana", very interesting dream, as also all the rest. It seems like snakes are common in dreams. They generally represent "hidden", slimy, dangers in our lives. In your case, thanks for the insights into you current life, essential in order to try to figure out some of the reasons that may inspire your subconscious from throwing up that particular situation. The fact that you have accepted a new job points to a situation of anxiety regarding this fact. The subconscious creates a setting where your doubts and anxieties are portrayed vividly. Notice the role your wife plays in the dream. The fact that a dog protects you is an unconscious wish that somebody will save you from the hassle of moving and taking that new job. Good dream!

I do not personally believe in dreams having truthful meaning at all. I ofcourse have dreams but they are just dreams, a mere interpretation, a summary of our daily experiences and thoughts. I think people just complicate themselves with meanings that are not true really.

But well, it is up to you guys if you believe i such stuffs. Just make sure that it wont affect your daily living and decision making.

I had a dream that i was back at my mom's home and i was with my brother and i thought i seen something but it was nothing so we go the other way around. I have to agree with Kira had to say towards dreams and its meaning, or is there meaning really.

I happen to dream things and co relate them with my thoughts that day and they are connected really. So i think the way we think is how we dream things.

I also experience lucid dreams where i can control everything in my dreams. It is like day dreaming to me.

What is the significance of this red viper really? It is indeed, something that is absolutely beside me, at the moment.

"Response to Original Post by Linguist from Nirvana"

I believe that the vast majority of snake dreams are meant to be positive messages to the dreamers.

Often the start of the dream gives a good hint of its general feel and direction. In this case, the dream begins at a party. Looks like a positive dream.

The house represents the dreamer in some way – probably the dreamer’s spiritual or physical body – or a combination of both. Thus, the people who are in the dream are also parts of the dreamer. The white color is a sign of purity. The porch is where the house meets the outside world. The size of the porch is a reflection of dreamer’s relationship with the real-world.

There is a snake. Jung considered the snake to be a symbol of transcendence. Transcendence means that the dreamer goes beyond himself; he transcends his normal self. A symbol of transcendence is an animal that lives in two or more worlds. For example, a duck lives in the water and the air. Thus, it could be such a symbol. However, for Jung the typical symbol would be an animal that lives both underground and above ground. For the Jungian, the snake is the classic example. The snake also sheds its skin, which further adds to its symbolic power.

You see a very vivid red viper. It is “resting and coiled up next to the kitchen sink.” The snake is a very common spiritual symbol. It has a long association with kundalini. The color red is probably related to the symbolism of the first chakra, which is usually symbolized by the color red. This chakra is associated with the ability to survive. “It is linked to survival instincts and our ability to ground ourselves in the physical world. Blockage manifests as paranoia, and defensiveness.” See link below.

The viper is near the kitchen sink. In our dreams, the kitchen is usually a positive sign. The kitchen is sometimes seen as the center of the house. The kitchen is where food is prepared and often eaten. In the real-world, the food we eat gives us strength and energy. In our dreams, this typically symbolizes our spiritual and psychological growth.

The sink is where “dirty” water from the washing of food and dishes is eliminated. Thus, the sink could represent the elimination of problems.

However, the kitchen and its sink could have a more physical interpretation. The kitchen would then be the dreamer’s stomach or digestive system. The sink would be the end of the digestive system. But, how does the snake fit into this? The latent kundalini is often depicted as a serpent that is coiled around itself 3 ˝ times. On the human body, it is located between the anus and the genitals. This would account for its being near the sink, which would represent the anus.

There was a yellow dog that prevented the snake from exiting. If we continue with the chakra symbolism, yellow would be associated with the third chakra. It is the chakra of personal power, self-esteem etc.

Hope this helps.

Snakes dont mean anything good. There is no good omen surrounding a snake. To get killed or bitten by a snake is even worst. Dont think too much of the dream once it ends and doesn't continue or start over at another time.

Comment #17 Sammy (109.111.97.22) - Tue Mar 2 08:57:26 2010

Yeah, I have to agree on that. And also I have to say that dreams are just dreams and they do not have anything to do with what is going to happen in the future. But I have to say that dreams have something to do with how we think. We should not bug ourselves with those dreams and instead just try to live your life without worrying yourself much of what your dreams might mean.
