Yahoo! Answers: Can you believe in Karma if you don't believe in the Afterlife? - Afterlife
| Yahoo! Answers: Can you believe in Karma if you don't believe in the Afterlife? I am trying to piece together what exactly my religious/spiritual beliefs are so I can put a name to my religion. I was raised Christian but I take everything with a grain of salt and believe the Bible is not meant to be taken literally. Morally I believe in being a good person and I thought I believed in Karma but realize that I am unsure if an Afterlife exists. What is my religion? |
| "The most enlightened person on Earth. I take it one step further."
Don't confuse afterlife and karma. And you don't have to put a name to your religion. Karma is simply lessons. You choose what you want to learn, not someone else. If you live in negativity or imperfection, you may not like your next life until you learn the lesson. And if it's a life of good karma, it's called dharma. You take dharma with you. Have you noticed that in the afterlife, you don't have a physical body? That tells you you don't need life. You go beyond it. You exist with or without it. You are unlimited. Your norm is perfection. What you think of as heaven is the state of reality. What you think of as Earth is an illusion. God tolerates no sin in reality, what you call heaven, but allows you to learn in the illusion. God is having a dream, and you're living in it. Sounds like you're lacking communicating with God. By quietly meditating 20 minutes a day, you will help to open yourself up to listen to God. |
| That is quite an enlightening though, Reverend Fino. But personally, I believe in Karma. I always believe in the golden rule which says, "Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you". If you do good to other people, it will surely come back to you. If not, then otherwise will happen. More power! Thank you so much and have a great day! |
| Same here. I believe in Karma and how we are to suffer on our own actions. If we continue doing bad towards others then we should not be surprised if someday we are to experience something bad as well. Like what the golden rule says, do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you. Anyway, thanks for sharing and good day to all. Ciao. |
| I believe that each and every one of us has his own believe about Karma and afterlife. We should not take this things is just a single context. The most important thing is to do our best as we live here on earth. Nobody know what exactly our future lies most especially after death. I think we just have to be consistent to what we really believe because it will lead to where we belong. |
| Your religion depends on the set of beliefs and practices that you are following and that which you were baptized with. If you were baptized a Catholic, then that's your religion. I believe there is life after death and it will largely depend on how we lived our life here in this world. Our karma will also play a great role in it. If we did a lot of good things then we will get good karma here in this life and beyond it. |
