What type of religion would you consider this.. ? - Afterlife
| What type of religion would you consider this.. ? I have no belief in the higher power of God, but I do respect people & their beliefs. I do not judge them so anyone please don't get offended by this. The way I see it is I kind of believe in evolution, because if there is a God, then I would like to see it for myself. I believe in the spiritual world, like there are spirits here on earth and not all of them are evil. I do believe there are evil spirits as well as good. I think there is an afterlife in the spiritworld, or would like to believe there is. I would love to believe in something like a religion but most contain a God of some sort. Also, the subject of all religions are confusing and there's always something in a religion I don't really believe. Which is why I'm not too much into religion. I've been wanting to learn about Wiccan but haven't had the chance to get really that into it. |
| "In Reply To Troy~ Religion Question"
From the way you describe your beliefs~ I will say you are confused. But it seems you teeter between Atheist and Pagan. It seems you are drawn towards Paganism , but yet are held back due to the presence of Deity. I feel you are still exploring and do not really know what you believe ~ but you are against anything remotely close to Christianity. You need to follow your gut instincts , but I feel if you believe in Spirit and can connect to do readings~ There is a belief of some sort there , even if it is in your deepest part of your mind~hidden away ~ It is there, none the less. Blessed Be. |
| You have mentioned a lot about your own beliefs. Well I also respect that. We have our own beliefs despite of our religion or being an atheist. I wonder how old you are, and if you have a particular religion. In terms of afterlife, we have a variety of predictions about it but I think we all have a single origin. But anyway, I still appreciate your own way of expression. |
| Religion should not be the basis of how people should make their lives at the very best way they can be. I mean, the division made by people that believe that different people may produce or may have different views in life. People should know that upon knowing the ideas and philosophies that their religion has, they will see the true meaning of life. I hope it will be possible. |
| I see you are interested in different kinds of religions, though you do not believe in some of the practices found these different religions. I would say you are looking for truth, something you just cannot find in world religions as they are all human organizations--everyone of them. I would suggest you try to bypass all that, and consider that every religion has some truth to it, which can focus on. For example, most religions teach that you should show love to others and put others before yourself. That is absolute truth. Truth does not need you to believe in it or religion to back it up to be truth. It just is. I would suggest you look for truth, and you will find it everywhere, because God will help you find truth.(it is absolutely true that there is a God, though what that means no one can know) |
| I think you better start a spiritual journey. Look for the belief system that could possibly answer all your questions or appease your worries and inhibitions. There are so many religion out there that may confuse one on how to go about their lives. Reflect on what you consider is generally good? Will your happiness depend on it or the pursuit just a waste of time to even be bothered by it? |
| "Believ or not to believe"
Well you already believe in such things like spirits and that itself (to me) is already enough. Although you don't have any formal religion, I don't think that it matters or it might be since you are already asking such questions. I have to agree with some respondents here, go on a "spiritual journey" and find what you are comfortable to live in. Don't let religion or people mandate you what to do, you should feel it within yourself. |
| "Seek and Find"
Perhaps you are a seeker on the brink of discovery. If you keep asking the questions, the answers that are relevant to you will manifest. You are discovering what doesn't seem the likely thing to you. Along the way, what may be likely will just pop up and kiss you in the face. A person doesn't have to believe in organized religion to believe in God or a creative energy. I believe in one energy, one God, expressing in many ways to fit the natural evolution of each individual. Within that belief system is the acceptance of everyone to express themselves and believe for themselves that which they seek and find. |
| "A type of Deism?"
What you describe sounds like a form of deism. You believe that there are spirits that interact with us and perhaps a realm beyond us. But you do not believe in a God - at least not a God that interacts with people. This is actually the same with many traditional African religions. Although most do hold that a God exists, they still will say that it is unreachable and essentially out of the equation. It is the interaction with the immediate spiritual world and the spirits that reside within that which are the most important. |
